Iowa City is full of big ideas. It’s time to turn them into action and build a future based on our shared values.
— Amy Hospodarsky

Amy Hospodarsky is a nonprofit leader, small business owner, single mom, and long-time community builder running for Iowa City Council in District B because Iowa City needs leaders who know how to make meaningful change. Iowa City deserves city councilors who listen, approach problems with creativity, and stay grounded in the impact of their work.

Curious and Compassionate Leadership: Amy believes in listening first. Good governance starts with deep community engagement and listening to diverse voices, especially those too often unheard. Curiosity leads to better questions, compassion ensures our focus remains on people, not policy.

Courageous and Creative Problem-Solving: Iowa City faces complex challenges, and we can’t solve them by doing things the way we always have. We need leaders who can turn big ideas into real action, who aren’t afraid to try new approaches, and who are ready to meet our community’s evolving needs with creativity and courage. Stability doesn't mean stagnation.

Collaborative Action: Progress doesn’t happen through top-down decisions. I value strong partnerships between residents, community organizations, businesses, elected officials, city staff and businesses. Real progress comes from building alignment and accountability together, not just creating plans that sit on shelves.

Amy commits to proactive community engagement and connection, so decisions are made with people, not for them; a city budget that clearly and boldly reflects our strategic goals with transparency and a focus on the future; and turning plans into action and ideas into impact for meaningful implementation of our strategic vision.
